Jadeja, Bumrah batting gets India ahead
Well it was valuable 73 runs added for last 3 wickets by lower order placed India in a comfortable position at the end of day 3 - marred again by fickle English weather - as only 50 odd overs play took place, in the first test at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
Starting overnight 125/4 Rishabh Pant left after adding 20 - 145 /5 - India still 38 behind. Ravindra Jadeja played very sensibly and added 60 with opener K L Rahul. Rahul after holding one end admirably close to 6 hours made 84. 205/6 - lead 22.Shardul Thakur sent back immediately by old fox James Anderson now with 621 test wickets left Anil Kumble on 619 behind. 205/7.Everybody in the Indian camp was hoping to get lead of at least 40 odd runs then. But Jadeja and Bumrah had other ideas. Jadeja attacked English pacers, protecting Shami registered half century in the process followed by unique Ravindra Jadeja special sword celebration. Made excellent 56 with 8 fours and 1 six. 232/8 - Lead 49.Then it was fully unexpected Jaspreet Bumrah show. With valuable partnerships of 13 with Shami (13) and 33 with Siraj (7 ) added very invaluable 46 runs. Bumrah 28 - 3 fours and 1 six . India 278 - Lead 95.
England cautious 25/0 in the second innings, when rain stopped play. So far around 163 overs bowled over 3 days. Weather is expected to be better on last 2 days. Hopefully around 170 overs play is still possible to get the result. If Indian bowlers are able to repeat excellent performance of 1st innings , able to restrict England around 200.Who knows - India can hope to start series on a winning note , hoping star studded batting line up to do better in second innings. So let's hope for clear english weather to witness some exhilarating test match cricket at its best, for next two days.
